Jill and Gary, I wanted to let you
and all that are looking for a new saddle. You are the
greatest! Never have I dealt with with nicer and more
knowledgeable people. From the first email, to my new
Phoenix being delivered you were there to answer my
questions. My saddle fits me and Dixie just fine.
I was concerned, but your knowledge of horses and their
needs for correct saddle fit helped me make a hard decision.
Of the 12 different saddles I have purchased in the last 4
years, yours fit perfect. Again THANK YOU. Terri & Dixie Bellevue, WA. |

What do you mean by twist of the saddle? Twist refers to the way the bars turn as they go from front to back. The type of twist to the bars is essential for the comfort of the rider as the flex panels are what makes contact to the horse for their comfort. The bars must twist sufficiently or they will impede the flexing of the panel system. The front of the bars are centered on the fork allowing the panels to rest comfortably along the shoulder and ribs. Most Timberline saddles are a close contact saddle with flex panel skirts and a tree tapered in the center to improve the rider's comfort and contact with the horse (called a "narrow twist"). Most types of western saddle have a wider twist and riders find them to be less comfortable for long rides. With Timberline the tree is designed for maximum rider comfort.
